It is used to connect singlemode or multimode fiber optic cables with SC/UPC – FC/UPC connectors, which are mostly used in distributions frame, connecting patchcords with pigtails welded with optic cable. Singlemode adapters are made of bronze housing and ceramic sleeves and it is more precise than multimode adapter. FC and SC connectors are the most popular among connectors used in fiber optic installation.

Singlemode fiber has a small core diameter that supports only one mode of light. Signal is traveling in a single light beam with close to none reflection. Low reflection ratio means lower dispersion.
